Kanaan Winery is located at the foot of Helan Mountain in the province of Ningxia. The founder Wang Fang spent ten years in Germany before setting up her winery and naming it after the promised land of Kanaan, where ‘milk and honey flow’. The names ‘Pretty Pony’ and ‘Wild Pony’, which she gave to her wines, stem from her special love of horses. In earlier times, the Helan Mountains were symbolised by a horse.

In Germany, Wang Fang discovered her love for Riesling, which she grows under completely different geographical and climatic conditions in Ningxia. The result is a marvellous wine that is already attracting worldwide attention, in particular the recognition of Master of Wine Jancis Robinson.
