Kanaan Winery is located at the foothill of Helan Mountain in Ningxia Province. Founder Wang Fang spent ten years in Germany before establishing her winery and naming it after the Promised Land of Kanaan, where “milk and honey flow.” Her special love of horses inspired the names “Pretty Pony” and “Wild Pony,” which she gave to her wines. In earlier times, the Helan Mountains were symbolized by a horse.

In Germany, Wang Fang discovered her love for Riesling, which she grows under completely different geographical and climatic conditions in Ningxia. The result is a marvellous wine that is already attracting worldwide attention, in particular the recognition of Master of Wine Jancis Robinson.
